"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving" - Albert Einstein
Caroline took part in the International Childcare Trust cycle ride across Cambodia in 2010 and cycled over 300km. It was the toughest challenge both physically and mentally in the blistering heat with 12 of the participants dropping out due to sunstroke. After visiting one of the projects the ICT funded whilst in Cambodia, we have now become a regular contributer to this most worthwhile cause. Caroline has signed up to cycle across Nepal in 2012, this one will be tougher still because of the hilly terrain. We have a high sponsorship target of £6,000 so will appreciate every bit of help towards reaching our target.
International Childcare Trust (ICT) believes that all children, regardless of socio-economic background, have the right to enjoy their childhood and reach their potential. They partner with NGOs in Africa and Asia - managed and staffed by local people - that protect children’s rights; in particular, organisations that address both the causes and effects of child poverty.
The need to protect the rights of some of the world’s poorest and most marginalised children is vast. Hundreds of thousands of children throughout the world have lost their parents to AIDS, suffer from ill-health and malnutrition, or have been forced to flee their homes due to natural disaster, armed conflict, violence and family breakdown. Others may find themselves pushed to the margins of society due to the stigma and discrimination associated with having a disability. Many of these children find themselves living in refugee camps, squalid slums or on the streets where they are vulnerable to harassment, abuse, exploitation and premature death.
Sponsor us today and help give some of the world’s most vulnerable children their childhood back.
